How can :Data let you find a workplace where you can fully utilize your talent?

Outline

Outline
Having a more objective record of the employee's performance/output, client's review, skills, and health condition allows for a more effective HR performance review based on his/her competency and characteristic.
For example, if an individual can manage and leverage their own(objective)work-related data, they will have a better chance of finding the right workplace or post where they can realize their full potential.
Having a record of the staff's health condition and status can help to improve the general workflow and the working environment such as more flexible working hours.
As we begin to see digital technology such as AI and IoT seep deeper into our society, “tasks to physically carry out instructions provided” will increasingly be completed by computers and robots.
What computers and robots cannot carry out are things without precedence such as new actions based on an individual's vision or idea. It won't be too long where jobs will be considered as something people take on, fully aware of their history and strengths. This is why it's essential that data be properly tracked and stored, to realize their dream.

Pros

Pros
  • Companies will improve their hiring as they can see competency and characteristic of the candidates which are never fully revealed on a CV(also helps people to find a better workplace for them).
  • Improve HR performance review based on the staff's competency and characteristic as an objective record of one's performance will remove any superficial bias such as gender, age, etc.
  • Improve the efficiency and effectiveness with real-time tracking of the workplace by promptly taking action where needed such as placing workers where needed, issuing red flag to overworked staff, etc.
  • Data will help to create a better workplace environment both mentally and physically.

Challenge

Challenge
  • To create an environment that can accommodate individual characteristics, a flexible rule/framework is necessary, both in terms of hardware and software.
  • We have already seen examples of AI/algorithm used in hiring. However, in some cases, because of the inherent bias in the algorithm, the result ended up discriminating based on gender and ethnicity.
  • Data in a workplace must be safely and fairly leveraged to provide a comfortable working environment for all, not just for the sake of management to control its staff.
